Herbalism in Kalimantan, Indonesia

I met a family of herbalists in Singkawang, West Kalimantan, Indonesia. The whole family are trained in herbalism and holistic healing. Whist they dont use the word Ayurveda, most of the herbs they use are the same as in Ayurvedic medicines. Most importantly is the main focus of their treatments. They ask all patients to adopt a specific diet before they can treat then with herbs. This is excatly the same process we use in Ayurveda. It was great to share experiences and herbal remedies with each other, explore their herbal garden and eat some of their local delicious food.

Ayurveda says "If the diet is not right, medicine (medicinal herbs) will not be of any use. If the diet is correct, medicine will not be needed.”
