Meet the healer, wellness guide and skinnibuddha Founder

My name is Jason. I work with people who are dealing with ongoing health issues and want care that responds to their unique circumstances. Rather than applying fixed programmes or standardised treatments, my focus is always on individual care. My approach combines Ayurvedic assessment and treatments, yoga-based therapeutic practices, marma therapy (acupressure), herbal medicine, using evidence based Clinical research to support ancient wisdom. I incorporate diet, herbs and natural therapeutic approaches when offering a personal, tailor-made programme to deal with specific ailments. I assess what is happening in your system and work with what is most relevant at the time physically, mentally and in the context of your life, guiding and adapting the approach as your needs change. Everything is tailored to your current state, to restore balance by dealing with both symptoms and the root cause of your condition.

I have years of experience in both teaching and clinical practice, and have trained extensively in:

Yoga therapy

Ayurveda therapy and treatment, Herbal medicine

Holistic approaches to pain, digestion, skin, stress, hormonal and nervous system health

I continue to study and refine my practice to ensure the guidance I provide is current, practical, safe, and relevant.  I aim to use whose creativity, sensitivity and empathy will facilitate your personal transformation

The treatment I provide is tailored to your needs, and unique to you. Your treatment package will include the support that is necessary for your healing journey.

More about jason

I began my own meditation practice in 1994 and was subsequently introduced to the physical aspects of yoga, mainly based on Ashtanga Vinyasa, Rocket Yoga and Yin Yoga. In fact I have trained and studied with some of the world's best yoga practitioners: John Scott, Manju Jois (the son of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois), Danny Paradise, David Swenson, David Kyle, The Yoga People, Joey Miles, Norman Blair and Mahesh Chandra.  In 2015 I had my 'Diksha' and was given my spiritual name “Jitatma Anand” by Dr Omanand Guruji of Paramanand University, India.

I have taught meditation since 2006, and taught in Gandhi and Vivekananda schools in India and run workshops in London, Indore and Hanoi, currently teaching in Plymouth and run the Rocket Yoga and Philosophy modules on a Yoga Teacher Training course.

I began working with medicinal plant doctors in Central America in early 2000s and this led to my training in Ayurveda Therapy at Paramanand University, Indore, Madhya Pradesh, India. Since then I have regularly visited and learnt from South Asian communities who use medicinal herbs as part of their indigenous cultural treatments.

The benefits of both Yoga Therapy and Ayurveda have been profound on myself and others. Since then I have been utilizing both yoga therapy, Ayurveda and holistic therapy programmes to help others recover from seemingly hopeless or incurable conditions.

I am a Certified and practising Yoga Therapist, studying at Paramanand University in India, and I have had over 10 years of yoga therapy training. I completed Postgraduate research in Yoga and Soul Education in 2016, resulting in an MA., and have held a clinic since 2016.

I am also an Ayurveda Therapist, having completed specialist Ayurvedic training 2015-2024 with Paramanand University, Indore, MP, India and Herbal Clinical Ayurveda training in UK 2024-2026

skinnibuddha story

skinnibuddha exists to provide affordable accessible yoga, yoga therapy and ayurveda to the people of Plymouth, Devon and Cornwall.

It started from a house in Plymouth in 2007, skinnibuddha began sharing Yoga techniques to help people recover from emotional and physical difficulties. Bringing people into natural outside spaces we started to help people with insomnia, depression, back pain, and respiratory illnesses.  This went on for a while sometimes people bringing others and cramming them into our front room.

Then in 2012 a group of us set up London's first donation based yoga studios, in Oxford Street and Blackfriars.  Men and women were able to attend yoga classes without the need to pay for monthly subscriptions or expensive prices.  A community of people interested in their personal health was developing, but it was not based on income.

After the success of the London project we decided to do something similar back home in Plymouth.  We began teaching as a skillshare, swapping a yoga class or offering yoga therapy for other skills such as graphic design, web design, plumbing, carpentry, accountancy. So in 2016 we started using community spaces to offer yoga therapy on a donation basis.  We couldn't keep up with the demand and needed to find more venues to work in.  We introduced the yogic diet with our ever popular yogic food evenings, and built aspects of Ayurveda into both classes and one-to-one therapy sessions.

Since COVID we have had to change the way we work.  However we still offer regular free yoga classes, holding onto our initial vision of affordable, accessible yoga
