We are offering the ancient, ayurvedic treatment of Shirodhara at our Plymouth clinic. Shiro comes from the sanskrit word for ‘head’ and dhara translates as ‘steady flow’. In the treatment process liquids are slowly dripped in a continuous stream onto the forehead. The liquids used depend on the needs of each person and can include herbal infused water, coconut water, milk, buttermilk or medicated oils depending on the individual need of the patient.
Amazing results have been shown in clinical research where heart rate and blood pressure have reduced. Also EEG scans have compared Shirodhara treatments to similar effects of meditation, resulting in anxiety reduction and physiological effects of stress decreasing.
