Frequently answered questions for Yoga and Ayurveda Therapy

What do I wear and what should I bring?

Wear something easy to move about in like jogging bottoms, leggings, or shorts, Nothing too loose otherwise you’ll be adjusting it a lot, and nothing too restrictive so that you can move easily. Wear what feels comfortable - don’t worry about footwear since we run the session barefoot (or with socks).

We have all the equipment needed – but if you have your own and prefer to use it, feel free to bring it along.

If you have any medical documents (x-rays, MRI, scans), or reports which give details about your current condition, please bring them along.  Please bring a list of all medication currently taking if not already supplied.

What about parking, waiting area and bathroom facilities?

Please arrive at least 5 minutes before your appointment time. There is a waiting area and bathroom available. There is unrestricted on-street parking nearby, but please allow time to find a space.

What do I expect BEFORE the appointment?

  • EMPTY BELLY: We ask you not to eat anything 2-3 hours before the session, a glass or two of water is fine.

  • SHOES: Remove your shoes (and socks if appropriate) BEFORE starting the session.

  • MOBILE PHONE: Please set it to phone OFF or on complete silent mode if you need to keep it on for personal reasons

  • INJURIES and HEALTH CONCERNS: please consult with your health care provider before beginning Yoga and Ayurveda therapy if you have any injuries or health concerns. Please notify us before the session.

  • PREGNANT: please consult with your health care provider before beginning Yoga and Ayurveda therapy. Please notify us before the session.

What should I expect AFTER the appointment?

  • Hydrate with clean, filtered water and eat lightly

  • Over the next twenty-four hours really notice how your body feels. If you have real pain, check with your health care provider.

  • Also notice how you feel mentally and emotionally. Over time, most people begin to experience mental clarity and physical relief in their daily lives. But often we do stir up a lot of different emotions in the process. This is perfectly normal and a part of the healing process.

I’m not flexible. What if I cannot touch my toes?

It doesn’t matter if you feel out of shape or inflexible, we are here whole-heartedly to guide you through your Yoga and Ayurveda therapy treatment. We expect you to come just as you are and we can show you specific ways to work with your body. We will show you how to carefully move the body in respectful and non-harming ways that will help you find a quickening approach to relieve symptoms. We are talented and compassionate, and look forward to showing you different ways to move your body. There are multiple options for everyone, nothing is impossible.

How do I pay for a session?

You pay directly to the skinni buddha bank account before the session or in cash at the session. You either pay during this visit or beforehand if you know how many sessions you would like to have. We will provide you with bank details once before your first appointment. Please check the website for up to date prices.

Are sessions confidential?

All sessions are strictly confidential according to the normal practices and procedures of any type of therapy. We keep medical records of the services we provide for you. Your records will be kept confidential unless you give us written permission to release them or we need to consult another member of the team we work with or are required to do so by law. Please let us know if you would like to discuss any aspects of confidentiality as it affects you.

Skinni Buddha Yoga and Ayurveda therapy is a member of the International Association of Yoga Therapists, Yoga Alliance and Ayurveda Professionals Association and is fully insured. You can find me listed on their websites. I follow their code of ethics and practice.

What if I miss a session, cannot attend or am late?

All missed sessions are chargeable once they have been booked; we require 24 hours notice to re-arrange a session because you find you cannot make our agreed time, otherwise the session is charged for. This may sound strict, but your booking is a guarantee that the time scheduled is for you. So you are paying for a committed time slot. 24 hours notice allows us to call those waiting for an appointment to take your time slot. Please let us know well in advance about any sessions you will need to miss. If you know you are going to be late, please text 07828768053.

When is my next appointment?

Whenever possible, we will offer you a regular weekly session at the same time each week as consistency is an important facet of Yoga and Ayurveda therapy. If you are just receiving Ayurveda therapy we can make follow up appointments as per your treatment plan.
